25 Apr The many faces of diabetes
For the past two years this project has supported adult newcomer immigrants and refugees in the prevention and control
of diabetes. Cross Cultural Health Brokers from Afghanistan, India, Latin American countries, Somalia, and South Sudan
hosted screening events and provided ongoing group support for prevention and self management. As this project wraps
up, we have been reflecting on all that has been accomplished.
Self-management support: Groups coming together, supporting each other
in their drive to be healthy, guided by cross cultural health brokers offering
information in participants’ first language.
Community screening events: A
lively culturally driven morning of
testing, music, education, and food!
